T'was on this day in musical history.
1958 - Elvis Presley was sworn in as a private in the US Army. From that day forward, there was nothing private about his life at all.
1965 - Bill Wyman was knocked unconscious by an electrical shock from a microphone stand. The crowd went wild believing it was part of the act. Mick Jagger liked this idea and decided to reproduce it every night. Imagine how Wyman reacted when they broke the news to him. It was the first date of the Rolling Stones 12 month anniversary tour.
1973 - Lou Reed was bitten on his rear end by a fan during a concert in Buffalo, NY. The male fan was swiftly ejected by security staff. When asked by a reporter why he did it, the crazed man replied, “I was taking a walk on the wild side”.
1991 - The Black Crowes were dropped as the opening act on ZZ Top's tour for repeatedly criticizing Miller Beer. Miller Beer was sponsoring the tour. Executives at Miller seemed to take no offence when The Black Crowes were sledging their rival, Budweiser, a week prior to the start of the tour. Don't the truth hurt?
1992 - A Chicago judge ruled in the Milli-Vanilli class-action suit that $3.00 cash rebates would be given to anyone that could prove that they bought the group's music before November 27, 1990 (the date the lip syncing scandal broke). Fortunately for the cheating duo, they were only libel for rebates worth $139.00, as nobody had bothered to buy their single before the scandal anyway.
