Jerry Lewis is a genius. Yes, that's right. A genius. He took the Dr Jekyll story and flipped it on it's head. Professor Julius Kelp versus Buddy Love. The Nutty Professor made chemistry cool. I was forever mixing vials of foaming cocktails in order to create love potions, fabric disintegrators and x-ray vision. So what if I've only just given up. Teenagers can't have all the fun and you know you'd be one of the first to buy a pair of my x-ray specs. Who wouldn't? I'd sell a trillion of them.
Thanks to Matt Groening, the Nutty Professor will live on forever in The Simpsons. My fave episode is ofcourse, the one where Jerry Lewis is the voice of Professor Frink's father. Matt Groening is another genius and did you know he is a Frank Zappa fan? What a legend!Speaking of musicians, Milo from the Descendents is a chemistry geek from way back. It just goes to show that playing music does make you cool, no matter what your background is or where you come from.
Anyway, next time your feeling a bit low, get hold of a copy of the Nutty Professor and watch it. If that doesn’t cheer you up then you aren’t human. Cos, everybody needs a bit of love, even if it’s Buddy Love.
